ABOUT THE WINNER

With a career rooted in curiosity and a drive to rethink how supply chains operate, Dr. Martin Brown has become a key voice in advancing circularity at scale.

As Chair of the Group Committee and CSCO EMEA at Gebrüder Knauf, he has guided teams through complex transformation, elevating raw material stewardship and data-driven decision-making into strategic capabilities.

An early-morning runner wherever his travels take him, he values the clarity that comes from starting the day with a clear mind, the same mindset he brings to building resilient, future-ready supply chains. Congratulations, Dr. Martin Brown!

Case Study Highlights

At Knauf, Dr. Martin Brown is leading a shift from a linear supply chain to a circular system managed end-to-end, with supply chain management owning both forward and reverse flows.

The hardest part, he says, was a shift in perspective: treating recovered materials not as waste but as a strategic raw material.

Partnerships have been critical, including strategic joint ventures in Germany and France that bring recycling capacity and outside partners into Knauf’s production network under shared standards and KPIs.

Data-driven dashboards now track forward and reverse material flows across countries, turning circularity into a daily management discipline. Martin sees this as redefining supply chain management itself, building greater resilience, more secure supply, and a more efficient industrial system.
