Case Study Highlights

Selected from over 400 nominees representing more than 350 organizations, Prashant Sharma points to three transformations shaping Zydus Lifesciences’ supply chain. The first tackles cost leadership amid rising product complexity: rather than optimizing individual functions, his team optimizes the entire value stream through greater process automation, autonomous mobile robots and intelligent warehousing, and AI-driven procurement and capacity planning. The second is a shift toward lights-out manufacturing, where operators become process owners, supervisors become data-driven decision makers, and engineers move from reacting to problems to preventing them, achieved by involving teams early and demonstrating quick wins. The third is simplification and quality transformation, eliminating duplicate approvals and non-value-added documentation through structured risk assessment rather than accepting more risk. Prashant credits his colleagues across Zydus for making these transformations possible.
