A former Olympic rower, Rafik Amrane brings a high-performance mindset to transforming global supply chains. He applies this discipline to scale performance, leveraging collaboration, data, and technologies to optimize end-to-end operations.

Early in his career, as a production engineer at Toyota, he found a second school, learning Lean Manufacturing alongside Japanese mentors, a formative experience that shaped his standards from the shop floor, where it all happens and where performance starts with people. With experience across healthcare, automotive, insurance, and banking, leading large-scale transformations at McKinsey & Company, he combines deep operational expertise with a strong track record of change leadership.

Case Study Highlights

Rafik Amrane leads Opella Healthcare’s Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, shaping a more agile, resilient, and data-driven organization, empowering teams to deliver the best for consumers and bring health into the hands of people around the globe.

He is quick to point out that this recognition is not his story alone, but the story of a full team that chose to transform together.

Five years ago, as part of a larger pharma organization, Opella’s operations ranked among the best in the industry by traditional benchmarks, but its service levels weren’t where they needed to be for the fast-moving consumer healthcare business it was becoming.

Across roughly 11,000 people, 13 manufacturing sites, more than 130 contract manufacturers, and distribution in over 100 countries, Rafik’s team undertook a massive transformation, and he credits the people and their willingness to try, test, fail, and try again as the real difference-maker.
