Bala Sreenivasan’s trajectory to becoming an award-winning supply chain leader didn’t begin in the supply chain field. But rather, what began as a career in technical operations and manufacturing gradually progressed into supply chain management, where Bala is now responsible for helping to ensure MSD’s life-changing and lifesaving medicines and vaccines get to the patients who need them. When she isn’t working to advance global health or mentoring the next generation of supply chain and manufacturing leaders, Bala can be found spending time with her family and volunteering as a member of her hometown’s Environmental Advisory Council in Plumstead, Pennsylvania.
Message to the Supply Chain Community
It is an honor to be recognized as a supply chain leader by Alcott Global, and I am incredibly thankful to accept this award—a recognition that is also largely reflective of my entire supply chain management team, who carry me on their shoulders, and my colleagues across MSD. At MSD, we view supply chain management as an enterprise-wide effort toward fulfilling our purpose, which is to save and improve lives around the world, and we are all leaders in that regard.
Supply chains are the silent heartbeats of companies and those of us who are recognized as supply chain leaders carry a responsibility to leverage these vital engines to create bridges across ecosystems and shape the future of our world. From driving performance, cost improvements, and innovation, to protecting the environment, increasing supplier diversity and advancing the global economy, our actions hold the power to help companies improve lives. I hope we all continue to embrace the extraordinary opportunity we have to change society for the better.
