TOP SUPPLY CHAIN LEADERS 2023
Jane Burkitt
VP Supply Chain EMEA The LEGO Group
Jane’s supply chain career started in her early 20s thanks to a leader at Kodak commenting “You’re a numerate engineer, do you fancy traveling round Europe?” She jumped at the chance and soon became a passionate self-confessed supply chain geek, determined to enthuse others about the diversity of experiences a career in supply chain can offer. Her career has included leadership roles in supply chains for drinks, drugs, and movies, and she has spent the past 8 years leading the EMEA supply chain team at the LEGO Group, getting as many LEGO sets as possible into the hands of excited children. Outside work, Jane lives in London with her partner, their two teenage children, two cats, and two dogs, and can regularly be found swimming in cold water in the ponds on Hampstead Heath.
Message to the Supply Chain Community
I am delighted and humbled to receive this award, which reflects not only on me but also on the fantastic team whom I have the privilege to lead. The past few years have been challenging, ensuring that supply chains enable business growth, despite the challenges of the pandemic and multiple global supply chain disruptions – I take great pride in the fantastic results that my team has delivered. Great collaboration and strong leadership have become more important than ever in the field of supply chain. It is an honor to be recognized for my contribution to supply chain leadership and to see the importance of the supply chain gaining wider visibility.
I have been passionate about the supply chain for many years – it sits at the heart of the business, making a real impact on growth and profitability. It offers a huge range of career opportunities that can fit a diverse spectrum of different people. By striving to be inclusive leaders, and building teams and cultures where people with different backgrounds and skills can thrive, we will unleash even more creativity and diverse thinking in the supply chain. We need that fresh, brave thinking to enable the future of the supply chain where we step to change our sustainability performance and unlock the power of digital products and tools – this is what the younger generation expects from us. Let’s collaborate to continue raising the profile of the supply chain and get even more people enthused to build careers in the supply chain to come on this exciting journey with us.
